Christie Balch, MPH
Consultant, Monitoring & Evaluation
Christie brings a depth of nonprofit management experience to Sharp Insight, including evaluation, program development, and strategic planning. Her work at Sharp Insight includes evaluation design (e.g., logic models and evaluation plans), tool development (e.g., surveys, interview guides, observation tools), evaluation implementation, data analysis and reporting. Christie supports a wide range of evaluation efforts, from environmental programming to nonprofit leadership activities to capacity building initiatives.
Prior to joining Sharp Insight, Christie worked as Executive Director at Crossroads Community Food Network, a food justice organization based in Montgomery County, Maryland. She has extensive experience in sustainable food systems and has led many boards, committees, and task forces, ranging from developing a county-wide food security plan to identifying strategies to increase fruit and vegetable consumption nationwide. Her career began with an AmeriCorps placement in a 21st Century Community Learning Center, where she developed a love for community-based organizations.
Christie holds a Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and a BA in Biology from Lawrence University.
Outside "the office"
Christie enjoys spending time outside with her kids and dogs. She maintains an edible forest in her yard and tries to squeeze in a workout class, swim, bike ride, or yoga class whenever possible!
